ELAINE TORIBIO
Elaine was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and now resides in Atlanta, Georgia. She discovered her life’s passion at a young age and throughout high school she was highly encouraged to pursue a college degree in the arts . Upon entering college, she took a different path and chose a degree in Microbiology, leaning towards her need to research. After a year’s worth of science courses, Elaine realized her heart was just not into it. Elaine decided to go the complete opposite route and applied for art school. Towards the end of her college career, she had a revelation about who she was as an artist and thinker. She was able to explore her need to research and touch base with her scientific leaning mind. Despite who she thought she was, Elaine allowed that aspect of herself have some sway in her senior body of work.
She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art and a concentration in Drawing. Since then, she has been a freelance artist doing commission work and building a professional portfolio. Elaine has been in several shows throughout her life in Texas and featured in her first juried exhibit, “Brokenness” at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, since she moved to Georgia.
Elaine continues to develop her skills as an artist . She finds beauty in all aspects of art, from the mundane to the unexpected. Art has this ability to speak to a viewer when words are just not enough. She has a strong belief that in art, there is nothing but reaction.Personal/Artist websites:
