Suffering is not typically something humans seek out or desire.  In fact, we do all we can to avoid any hint of suffering.  Christ, however, willingly gave up himself to suffer death on a cross for the sins of mankind.  Most would agree with the adage, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” The endurance written in the verse above brings such beauty to this truth.  Through the sufferings we endure, character is produced and, in turn, hope. Our artists have tried to incorporate this theme in a variety of works to enjoy.
