MOLLY LAWRENCE
Born in Lima, Peru, Molly’s artistic influence began with art collecting parents. After political unrest moved the family back to the USA, Molly continued to persue art at the college level graduating UNCC, Summa Cum Laude, with a BFA degree majoring in painting and a minor in Art History. Named UNCC “Artist of the Year” she studied abroad spending nearly a year in Florence, Italy studing art history. Following graduation, she become a professional artist for more than 10 years opening in Ward Nasse Gallery in SoHo, NYC and Viridian Artists in Cheslea, NYC, Cyber Cafe in Times Square, NYC and more. Primary artistic influences include: Mondrian, Kasimir Malevich, Willem De Kooning, William Pachner and Kandinsky.Her artistic style is primarily large scale abstract works, acrylic on canvas. Molly has developed new painting techniques named “Sculpted acrylic” where acrylic painting is taken to new levels into a 3D space.
Molly is one of the gallery’s frequent artists and has been chosen to display two pieces in our 2012 Juried Exhibit entitled “Brokenness”.
